About the High School Equivalency Program (HEP)

The HEP at ISU is dedicated to expanding educational opportunities to migrant seasonal farmworkers and their families. As an Instruction Specialist, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering a comprehensive instructional and academic support plan that meets the unique needs of HEP participants. Your goal will be to ensure that annual GED completion and postsecondary transition goals for the program are met.

Key Responsibilities

As an Instruction Specialist for the HEP, your primary responsibilities will include:


Providing daily assistance to the HEP Lead Instructor/Advisor in developing and delivering instructional and academic support services throughout the region
Maintaining current knowledge of GED exams, skills assessments, curricula, and materials
Adapting, monitoring, and maintaining online learning platforms to ensure seamless delivery of instruction
Teaching GED preparation classes to empower participants to achieve their academic goals
Providing one-to-one tutoring to support participants who require extra help
Communicating effectively with other program staff about participant needs and progress
Completing other duties as assigned to ensure the delivery of high-quality instruction and academic support services


Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Experience working with historically marginalized populations, preferably migrant seasonal farmworkers and their families
Experience working in an educational program, preferably in a similar field
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with participants, staff, and community members
Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work in a diverse environment


Preferred Qualifications:


Master's degree from an accredited institution
Content expertise in math, language arts, social studies, or science
Experience with GED preparation and/or testing
Experience with online and/or distance learning platforms
Specialized training in goal setting, motivation, or a related field
Bilingual fluency in Spanish/English

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position will be between $46,050 and $49,500 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
