In-House Legal Consultant (Ongoing) – EU/US Consumer Law & E-Commerce Focus

We’re a fast-growing DTC pet brand with a warm, playful, and professional approach. We’re building something special for pet lovers worldwide and as we grow, so do the number of legal questions that pop up across the business. We’re looking for a flexible, experienced legal consultant to support us on an ongoing freelance basis. Someone who knows how to keep things compliant, smooth, and drama-free. This is not a corporate lawyer role. It’s more hands-on, practical, and embedded in day-to-day business decisions. You’ll be our go-to person for legal support across areas like: - Drafting and reviewing customer-facing policies (returns, privacy, disclaimers, etc.) - Reviewing supplier agreements and vendor contracts - Advising on consumer rights and compliance (esp. EU and/or US focus) - Responding to potential legal cases or customer escalations - Reviewing marketing copy for compliance issues - Supporting the executive team with ad hoc legal advice, potentially working together with lawyers and/or other legal representatives in the name of our company - Keeping us aligned with consumer protection, product compliance, and data privacy requirements (GDPR/CCPA knowledge a plus) ✅ Who We’re Looking For - Solid understanding of consumer law in the EU and/or US (both is a big plus) - Experience working with e-commerce or DTC brands - Strong drafting and communication skills - Not necessarily a certified lawyer, but you should be confident giving practical legal guidance - Comfortable working independently - A collaborative mindset and an appreciation for pets If you’ve supported a brand before and know how to balance compliance with business reality, we’d love to hear from you!
