Human Resources Assistant

Keller and Heckman LLP is an internationally recognized law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. They are seeking a Human Resources Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Department, ensuring efficient HR processes and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a positive experience for new hires and departing employees Assist with daily HR administrative operations, including maintaining employee records and managing HR documentation within firm systems Support HR initiatives and projects focused on process improvements and compliance efforts Assist in recruitment activities including onsite interview logistics Assist with preparing annual benefits mailings and maintaining accurate benefits documentation Update and manage internal firm resources Coordinate logistics for firm events including catering and invitations Reconcile monthly credit card expenses for firm accounts Serve as a backup to the Human Resources Coordinator to administer leave requests for Business Operations Team, ensuring coverage and compliance and monitoring leave balances in HRIS system Provide daily lunch coverage as well as partial and full-day reception desk coverage during absences of the Receptionist Collaborate with other administrative departments to promote effective communication and foster a positive, professional work environment Skills Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience 1 - 3+ years of experience in a HR role or administrative position Experience with HRIS systems required; Paylocity experience strongly preferred; Workday familiarity a plus Law firm experience is a plus Benefits Medical Prescription drug Vision Dental coverage Company Overview Keller and Heckman, founded in 1962, has a broad practice in the areas of regulatory law, public policy, and litigation, serving both domestic and international clients.
