About the position

The Housing Resource Specialist at Values Into Action is a full-time, remote/hybrid role focused on assisting individuals with disabilities in obtaining and sustaining housing. The position involves providing education, support, and advocacy to ensure that clients can live independently and safely in their chosen homes. The specialist will work closely with community resources and stakeholders to facilitate successful housing transitions and tenancy sustainability.

Responsibilities
• Assist people with disabilities to assess and plan for obtaining and sustaining housing that is under their control.

• Provide education, consultation, support, and coaching on the role, rights, and responsibilities of tenancy.
,
• Coach, mentor, and demonstrate building relationships with neighbors, landlords, and community members.
,
• Provide advocacy and linkage with community resources to support success in housing.
,
• Identify services and supports to aid in ensuring health and safety while coordinating moves from congregate living arrangements or family homes to more independent settings.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of housing experience or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.

• Experience working with persons with disabilities and familiarity with Pennsylvania Home and Community Based Services, including Participant Directed Services.
,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
,
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in writing, orally, and electronically.

Nice-to-haves
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.

• Experience with safety-net systems serving disenfranchised and vulnerable populations, promoting civil rights, equity, and self-determination.
