About the position
Responsibilities
• Underwrite complex Non-Agency and Agency loans from Correspondent Lenders in accordance with guidelines.
• Analyze ability to repay capacity, capital/assets, character, collateral, and property condition.
• Apply knowledge of Mortgage Process, GSE Underwriting Guidelines, and Chase Credit Underwriting guidelines.
• Adhere to all Chase Fair Lending practices.
• Demonstrate proficiency in AUS and manual underwriting processes.
• Review all loan underwriting documentation for compliance with state guidelines and Chase requirements.
• Analyze financial information including calculation of income, debt ratios, and verification of assets.
• Ensure loan decisions meet all program and product specifications.
• Identify and address red flags found in the file documentation.
• Communicate findings with clarity regarding documentation deficiencies.
• Display Best in Class Customer Service as measured by customer surveys and feedback.
• Effectively communicate using strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate teamwork with internal employees and external customers.
• Function successfully in a fully virtual workspace.
• Achieve and exceed work goals for productivity, quality, and turnaround time.
• Pass all audits and exams.
• Keep up to date on all credit policy changes that impact underwriting.
Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a residential mortgage underwriter.
• Minimum of 3 years of Non-Agency underwriting experience.
• Proficiency with complex personal and business financial analysis.
• Strong financial analytics experience focusing on cash flow, balance sheets, and corporate tax returns.
• Demonstrated expertise of GSE lending guidelines.
• Prior experience in manual underwriting.
• Proven analytical and decision-making skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
