Transportation Director of Safety
Salary: $90k-$110K
Company Full Benefits β including 401K with 50% match on first 4% contribution.
Experience: 2-3 years
Location: Dayton Ohio area
Job Description:
β’ Train and motivate employees to follow federal, state and company guidelines and safety standards to protect the public, and the organization.
β’ Work directly with off-site terminal managers explaining and emphasizing safety measures.
β’ Supervise and direct activities of five Regional Field Safety Managers.
β’ Conduct classroom training and identify remote training technologies/opportunities to serve drivers, mechanics, and office employees.
β’ Monitor and update training for all new and existing drivers, shop, and office personnel.
β’ Work with Recruiting, Risk and HR departments to ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices are current and meet the needs of the operating divisions.
β’ Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on safety trends as required or requested.
β’ Ensure new-hire drivers meet federal and company qualifications.
β’ Manage DOT Part 40 compliance for drivers and CDL mechanics.
β’ Communicate effectively and work in concert with all departments.
β’ Ensure safety technology tools are fully utilized and those results are examined, and plans are developed to reduce and prevent future safety incidents.
β’ Ensure corporate safety incentives and programs are managed effectively and consistently.
β’ Ensure a consistent safety culture throughout the locations that incorporates operations, safety and maintenance departments. Emphasize a team approach and individual responsibility of all employees to achieve common goals.
β’ Lead the investigation into accidents and injuries for determination of cause and preventability. Identify trends to be addressed in future training efforts.
β’ Lead the companyβs Compliance Department.
