The Associate role in the Global Financial Institutions Group involves supporting the Specialty Finance Client Coverage team by advising clients on financing solutions, capital optimization, and capital raising while also facilitating client relationships and internal project management. Responsibilities Supporting a team that advises Specialty Finance companies on financing and liquidity solutions, capital optimization, and capital raising in the public and private markets Coordinating and facilitating group idea generation and solutions across products and regions Preparing pitch books and other client marketing materials and assisting with preparation for client meetings Assisting in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships Maintaining internal databases to track comps, deal flow, capital markets activity and wallet share Skills Bachelors degree or MBA in Finance or Economics, with a minimum of 1-3 years corporate finance and/or capital markets experience Candidate must have experience in the Specialty Finance (BDC) sector Transaction experience, particularly working in banking or capital markets Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and contribute to idea generation Strong project management skills, including experience leading a team of analysts and adhering to tight timelines Exemplary written and oral communication skills with an ability to convey ideas Ability to work independently, while also working effectively in a team environment Advanced proficiency with Bloomberg and Microsoft Office Benefits Annual discretionary incentive award A competitive portfolio of benefits Company Overview SMBC Group is a top-tier global financial group.
