We are seeking a passionate and talented Full-Time Staff Writer to join our dynamic editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a deep love for the outdoors, strong writing skills, and a knack for news writing. As a Staff Writer, you will be responsible for producing engaging content that resonates with our readers, covering a wide range of topics related to outdoor activities and natural resources in Minnesota.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research, write, and edit high-quality news stories on natural resources policy as well as news features on research and profiles.
• Conduct interviews with industry experts, outdoor enthusiasts, and conservationists.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to brainstorm and develop content ideas.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and news in Minnesota’s outdoors scene.
• Ensure all content is accurate, well-researched, and aligns with our publication’s voice and standards.
• Attend and cover outdoor events, meetings, sport shows, and conferences as needed.
• Contribute to our social media channels and engage with our online community.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a writer, preferably in the outdoor or related industries.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong research abilities and attention to detail.
• Passion for the outdoors and a solid understanding of outdoor activities and conservation issues.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Basic proficiency in In-Design and Word
• Proficiency with digital content management systems and basic photography skills are a plus.
• Flexibility to travel for assignments and events as needed.
