You'll lead the development of elegant, responsive, and accessible interfaces, transforming complex requirements into simple and performant UIs. Your work will directly shape how users interact with Bastion’s compliance and fintech tools, impacting everything from initial onboarding to real-time workflows.This is a 0 → 1 environment ideal for engineers who thrive on ownership, autonomy, and hands-on collaboration with designers, backend engineers, and product stakeholders. You'll influence architectural decisions, define frontend patterns, and contribute to our design system as we scale.A strong sense of visual and interaction design, paired with an instinct for clean abstractions, will be key to success in this role. Experience in fintech is a strong plus, as is a forward-looking mindset that’s excited by the potential of web3 applications.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfacesTranslate product and design specs into polished, production-ready React componentsDevelop and maintain scalable frontend architecture and reusable component librariesCollaborate with cross-functional teams — including product, design, and backend — to deliver end-to-end featuresIntegrate APIs (gRPC, tRPC, GraphQL, WebSockets) and manage asynchronous data flowsOptimize performance through bundling strategies, lazy loading, and code splittingWrite robust test coverage (unit, integration, E2E) using modern testing frameworksApply security best practices to prevent common frontend vulnerabilitiesContribute to frontend build and CI/CD workflows, ensuring reliable deploymentsDocument patterns, decisions, and best practices to support team-wide maintainabilityQualifications7+ years of professional experience building modern web applications with JavaScript, TypeScript, and ReactStrong proficiency in HTML/CSS, responsive layout techniques, and browser compatibility best practicesDeep experience integrating with RESTful APIs, gRPC, GraphQL, and WebSocket services; familiarity with backend technologies such as Node.js, Express, and tRPC for effective integrationProficient in frontend performance optimization and tooling (e.g. Webpack, Lighthouse, bundle analysis)Experience writing and maintaining test suites using Playwright or equivalent (e.g. Cypress, Jest)Familiarity with web security principles (XSS, CSRF, CORS) and how to mitigate common risksComfortable with Git workflows, code reviews, and modern CI/CD practicesExperience collaborating closely with designers and translating high-fidelity designs into codeSelf-starter with a track record of end-to-end project ownership or meaningful side projectsStrong preference to keep things simple, ship fast, and avoid overengineeringProfessional experience in fintech or financial systems.
