Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our dynamic team. The Dispatcher will play a crucial role in coordinating transportation logistics, ensuring timely and efficient movement of freight. This position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in transportation management systems, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities • Coordinate and schedule shipments, ensuring timely delivery of freight. • Dispatch Transport Drivers for over the road • Utilize transportation management systems to track shipments and manage logistics. • Experience booking loads from load boards. • Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable rates and terms • Experience working with freight brokers • Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and other stakeholders to provide updates and resolve issues. • Maintain accurate records of shipping and receiving activities, including data entry into relevant systems. • Monitor transportation routes using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for optimal planning. • Collaborate with supply chain teams to enhance operational efficiency. • Assist in the management of shipping and receiving processes to ensure compliance with company standards. • Proficient in GPS technology and its application in route optimization. • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and established policies and guidelines • Scheduling and Routing:Assigning loads to drivers, optimizing routes to minimize fuel costs and transit time, and coordinating pick-ups and deliveries. • Communication:Maintaining constant communication with drivers and customers to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure smooth operations. • Tracking and Monitoring:Utilizing tracking systems to monitor the progress of shipments, ensuring on-time delivery and identifying potential delays. • Issue Resolution:Handling and resolving any issues that arise during transit, such as weather delays or vehicle maintenance problems. • Compliance:Ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to trucking. • Record Keeping:Maintaining accurate records of shipments, routes, and dispatch activities. • Reporting:Generating reports detailing key performance indicators, such as on-time delivery rates and route efficiency. Qualifications • Minimum 2 yrs of Proven experience in dispatching or a related field within the transportation industry is preferred. • Strong understanding of freight operations, transportation planning, and supply chain logistics. • Proficiency in using phone systems and computer software for data entry and communication. • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor. • A high school diploma or equivalent; further education in logistics or supply chain management is advantageous.
