We’re expanding our Fractional Executive Network and are looking for experienced Fractional COOs / Directors of Operations to join our roster for potential client collaborations.

Important: This is NOT a full-time job

Malloy Industries is building our Fractional Executive Roster. This posting is for experienced operations leaders who want to be considered for future fractional client engagements. If you’re looking for a W-2, full-time internal role, this won’t be the right fit.

Our clients are growth-stage founders who have outgrown basic bookkeeping but aren’t ready for (or don’t want) a full-time CFO. They need the right level of finance leadership at the right time—ranging from clean financial foundations to strategic guidance for growth.

As a roster member, you may be matched with US-based clients who need fractional support—often 5–20 hours/week, depending on engagement needs.

While we can’t guarantee a specific volume of client work, members join because we invest in their success with meaningful support and a strong matching process.

Compensation: Compensation varies by client engagement and scope and will be discussed during the matching process.

What You’ll Do (Fractional CFO + Senior Finance Leadership)Depending on the client’s stage and pain points, you may lead or support work such as:

Fractional CFO (Strategic Finance Leadership)
• Financial strategy and forecasting (turning goals into a financial plan)
• Strategic modeling for fundraising, M&A, or major growth decisions
• Board reporting and financial narrative creation
• Growth and pricing guidance (profitability, margin, and decision support)
• Finance team leadership (guiding controllers/accountants/bookkeepers as needed)

Fractional Controller (Financial Operations + Oversight)
• Month-end close oversight and improving close cadence
• Cash flow forecasting and visibility
• Budgeting and variance analysis
• Board/leadership reporting support
• Managing bookkeepers and/or accountants; strengthening internal controls

Fractional Accountant (Compliance + Financial Reporting)
• Monthly financial statements
• GAAP/tax compliance support
• Adjusting entries (accruals, depreciation, clean-up)
• Audit support and stakeholder-ready financials
• Reviewing bookkeeper work for accuracy

Fractional Bookkeeper (Foundation + Accuracy)
• Recording income/expenses and keeping books clean
• Bank/credit card reconciliations
• Payroll data entry support (as applicable)
• AR/AP tracking
• Basic financial reports (P&L, balance sheet)

Who This Is For (and who it’s not): This roster is for finance professionals who can bring clarity and leadership—not just data entry. This is NOT a data-entry-only bookkeeping role. This roster is for senior finance leaders who can own outcomes, improve visibility, and help founders make better decisions with confidence.

Requirements
Must-haves
• 8+ years in finance/accounting with senior ownership (CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director, Controller, or equivalent leadership scope)
• Experience supporting founder-led or scaling businesses (roughly 10–100 employees)
• Strong communication skills (you can explain financial reality to non-finance leaders clearly)
• Comfortable working independently in a fractional/consulting-style environment
• US-based; able to work remotely with US clients

Strongly preferred
• Cash forecasting experience (including 13-week cash flow)
• Experience improving close/reporting cadence and building KPI visibility
• Experience partnering with CEOs on growth decisions, hiring plans, and tradeoffs
• Comfort leading/overseeing bookkeepers/accountants/controllers depending on client needs
