We’re well funded, agile and shipping fast - and the engineers who join now will be able to truly shape our trajectory.The RoleFocus: Designing, building, and refining the core AI agents and orchestration logic that automate hardware engineering tasks.You’ll own the architecture and development of Bench’s internal AI agents, starting with our Planner and Synthesiser agents. These systems take high-level engineering prompts and turn them into executable workflows, dynamically generating plans, synthesising tools, and learning from execution feedback.What You’ll OwnBuilding and orchestrating LLM-based agents that plan and execute complex engineering workflows, manage engineering data and craft custom tools.Building workflow infrastructure using LangGraph or similar frameworks, integrating tool discovery via RAG.Designing agent evaluation strategies using real-world execution data and human-in-the-loop signals.RequirementsYou don’t need 100% of the below. More than anything, we care about hunger, passion for this problem space and your track record of exceptional achievement.1-3 YOE in AI/ML or LLM-based development in a fast-paced startup environment.Built and deployed production-grade agentic systems - ideally ones that automated complex, multi-step workflows.Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar agent orchestration tools.Strong understanding of LLM evaluation, prompt design, and techniques for tuning models to domain-specific tasks.A first-principles mindset and excitement to architect our core AI systems from scratch.Full-stack capability - you can own a feature end-to-end, from API to infrastructure to evaluation.You're an AI-native developer - you already use Cursor, Copilot, or similar tools to think, code, and iterate faster, and you're eager to push those tools to their limits.Bonus Round:Background in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering, or direct experience with CAD/CAE tools like Onshape, Ansys, or SimScale.Built or contributed to real-world agentic systems involving dynamic planning or multistep execution.Why Join UsA rare opportunity to build software for hardware - unlike dev tools, software for hardware rarely evolves. Shipped software patches to a live satellite at ESA.Martin Bielicki, CEO - Mechanical Engineer, previously founded and led Hyperlink, a team of 100+ engineers that designed and built London’s first Hyperloop Pod.
