Founding Engineer

The RoleWe are looking for a talented founding engineer to join us on our mission to bring transformative financial services to businesses globally. You will be working on designing, building and scaling Pillar’s platform alongside a strong team that has varied and thorough experiences in the domain being tackled. The ideal candidate will have experience working at a fast–paced engineering organization, and tackling complex problems. You will be expected to take solutions to problems from 0 to 1, and maintain full ownership over all services that you build. Over time, your role will grow and evolve with the company, including managing and mentoring new hires, and taking on an engineering leadership role. While a prior background in fintech would be helpful, it is not a requirement; we will teach you the domain knowledge you will need. Responsibilities: Design, build and maintain the microservices that make up the Pillar systemWork on integrations with multiple vendors that help power the platformsDesign and build the customer facing front-end for the platformParticipate in designing and architecting the infrastructure behind our servicesWork to help evolve the platform as we scale the productHelp us define and develop our tech stack as the product growsHelp us build out and mentor an incredible teamQualifications: 2+ years of software engineering experienceFamiliarity with Go, Typescript, Postgres, and AWSExcellent ability to prioritize different tasksTransparent and honest communicator; be willing to ask questions, offer opinions, and facilitate discussionsExude empathy and a collaborative spirit in a high-paced environmentA sense of deep curiosity: always keen on learning more about all aspects of the customer, domain, and productNice to have: Prior fintech experienceExperience designing and building in distributed systemsExperience building trading systemsCompensation and BenefitsThe annualized salary for this role is $90,000-$150,000 plus equity and benefits. This salary range is based on the current available market data, and represents the expected salary range for this role. Actual compensation will vary based on skills, experience, and which offer each candidate selects.
