Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) is seeking two (2) Financial Reporting Specialists to work in close collaboration with all members of the team. This position compiles data for and assists in financial reporting requirements for the State.
Job duties for this position include:
- Preparing financial statements to be included in the State’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
- Coordinating work performed by state agencies in support of the ACFR.
- Preparing other state and federal financial reports, including the State’s Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA).
- Maintaining and developing ad hoc databases and reports to support the gathering and testing of financial information.
- Independently develop data layouts and methodologies to create process efficiencies for completing and reviewing the ACFR funds, notes, other required supplementary information, and other ledger data analysis.
- Advising state agencies on the interpretation and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Assisting in the development of ad hoc reporting for data analysis and providing financial information to management and the financial community.

- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and present financial data and reports in a professional, timely, and effective manner.
- Strong skills designing, building and maintaining complex spreadsheets and databases
- Analytical and organizational skills to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
- Strong communication skills to establish effective working relationships and clearly document policies, procedures, and related information.
- Demonstrated respect for diversity and a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field as determined by the agency may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

- Experience in creating or auditing government financial statements
- Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Experience with PeopleSoft and/or SWIFT
