What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Inspect and analyze equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, and maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
- Perform maintenance on vehicles, motors, kitchen appliances, and motorized equipment
- Operate groundskeeping equipment such as plow trucks, snow blowers, and mowers
- Supervise and train inmates in mechanical maintenance and repair work assignments
- Maintain security in the work environment and keep maintenance records
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Experience or training in construction or repair of structures
- Experience or training in general maintenance and repairs in areas such as plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work
- Experience operating powered grounds maintenance equipment
- Must possess a valid driver's license for some positions
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with welding, lifts, and generators
- Familiarity with blueprints and schematics for facility repairs
- Previous experience working in a correctional facility or similar environment
