With a 15:1 student-to-teacher ratio, we offer a unique learning environment that fosters close interaction between students and faculty, while challenging curricula encourage our students to seek and fulfill their potential. **Job Summary** As an Experienced Work Study - Lab Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students from various curriculum areas, providing guidance on generating ideas, developing a thesis, pre-writing, improving grammar and clarity, revising early drafts, creating a meaningful essay structure, formatting, finding appropriate resources, and building confidence in their writing abilities. You will also assist others in writing PowerPoints, compositions, critiques, letters, scholarship applications, web publishing, outlines, speeches, resumes, and bibliographies. **Key Responsibilities** * Provide basic support in a state agency or institution, such as unskilled or semi-skilled labor or performing basic office tasks * Assist students from various curriculum areas in generating ideas, developing a thesis, pre-writing, improving grammar and clarity, revising early drafts, creating a meaningful essay structure, formatting, finding appropriate resources, and building confidence in their writing abilities * Assist others in writing PowerPoints, compositions, critiques, letters, scholarship applications, web publishing, outlines, speeches, resumes, and bibliographies * Answer phones and schedule meetings * Maintain a positive work attitude and provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff **Essential Qualifications** * Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff * Possess knowledge of formatting styles such as APA and MLA * Exhibit basic people and problem-solving skills * Maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0 (borderline cases will also be considered) * Provide a reference from at least one UAPB faculty member who can vouch for them **Preferred Qualifications** * Experience working in an academic environment * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment * Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other productivity software **Skills and Competencies** * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment * Strong organizational and time management skills * Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information * Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other productivity software **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** As an Experienced Work Study - Lab Assistant, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a dynamic academic environment.
