Role Snapshot: Location: East Campus, Tucson, AZ (with some remote work options) Position: Tutor - East Campus (Temporary/Part-time) Compensation: Competitive salary ranging from $13.85 to $18.35 per hour, based on certification level Start Date: Immediate openings available Job Summary: As a tutor at Pima Community College's East Campus, you will work in the Learning Center, providing instructional tutoring and support to students in various subjects, including mathematics, writing, biology, and engineering. You will assist students in developing comprehension of course materials, improving study skills and habits, and achieving academic success. Tutors are trained and certified through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC), and all tutors are required to attain Level I certification within one year of being hired. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions, as well as embedded tutoring in classes, to support students' learning and academic success Assist students with basic concepts, specific problems, homework, test preparation, and effective use of textbooks and instructional materials in virtual and in-person environments Provide students with effective study skills and strategies to increase their academic success and independence Offer encouragement and support to students in areas of self-confidence, study habits, and time management Report any problems or concerns with equipment or materials to the Learning Center Personnel Establish effective and cooperative relationships with diverse student and employee populations Requirements and Qualifications: Essential Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Certificate Proven classroom excellence (grade A or B) in the subject(s) to be tutored Written Faculty recommendation for the subject(s) to be tutored OR vetting of content knowledge Preferred Qualifications: Tutoring experience Comfort tutoring multiple subjects Physical Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions Certification and Training: All tutors are required to complete the CRLA Level I certification within one year of employment.
