As a Technical Lead, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of our global payments and loyalty platform, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and success. About the Role This is a remote job opportunity with quarterly travel to our Boston base camp. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for leading the technical strategy and direction of our global payments and loyalty platform, working with teams in Berlin and India to drive innovation and excellence. You will be expected to work EST hours due to the cross-functional nature of the role. Key Responsibilities: Act as the technical lead in the payments and loyalty space, designing and building a platform that integrates with various systems inside and outside Wayfair and partner companies globally Develop and drive a long-term technology strategy for Wayfair's fintech and loyalty ecosystem Design and review code to implement high-quality, scalable, and future-proof services that will have significant system limits and will support long-term vision and strategy Lead technical discussions across the entire platform and help reach tough, documented resolutions Drive high-impact architectural decisions and active development, including initiation, design, implementation, and delivery following good design and coding practices Fanatically focus on production readiness for the team, including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet the department's technical vision Influence and contribute to the department's strategy and roadmap Support the growth of other engineers in fact by mentoring, pairing, and creating other opportunities for learning Be remotely recognized as a collaborative and sound-informed authority for the wider team's core area Essential Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need: Years of experience in engineering, with a preference for candidates with a mix of start-up and large company experience Ideal experience in payments engineering, particularly experience with larger-scale integrations (credit cards, financing, BNPL, apps) E-commerce or customer-facing technology experience on a high-traffic website is also a significant plus Proven experience driving software changes within high-growth environments at scale Experience in architecting and building large-scale, cloud-based technology Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience leading teams forward and ability to influence results Technical Requirements: Openness to cloud-native technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure) at scale Distributed systems experience Data-driven technologies in the cloud What We Offer: As a Technical Lead at Wayfair, you will have the opportunity to work on a global payments and loyalty platform, driving innovation and excellence in the e-commerce industry.
