Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Staff Data Scientist to join our Data Ventures team. As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leading data science initiatives, mentoring junior team members, and implementing best practices across the team. You will work closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to empower team members, stores, and suppliers with technological innovation. Your primary focus will be on Customer Data Science initiatives, which may be long-term or short-term based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Data Source Identification: Understand the concerned order of requirements and service level agreements, define and identify the most appropriate resources for required data, and perform initial data quality tests on the extracted data.
Problem Formulation: Analyze business problems, identify and recommend methods to solve them, set data analytics goals and deliverables, and quantify business impact.
Analytical Modeling: Select suitable modeling techniques for complex problems, develop variables and functions iteratively, conduct exploratory data analysis, and identify dimensions and designs of experiments.
Model Deployment & Scaling: Work with MLOps to push ML models to production, continuously log and track model behavior, and identify model parameters that may need adjustments depending on the scale of deployment.
Code Development & Testing: Write code to develop the specified solution, create test cases, and contribute to code documentation and playbooks.
Applied Business Acumen: Evaluate proposed business cases, influence business stakeholder decision-making, translate business requirements into strategies and initiatives, and build and articulate the business case.
Model Assessment & Validation: Identify and review model assessment metrics, apply appropriate techniques for model testing and tuning, and ensure testing data is documented and maintained.
Data Visualization and Storyteller: Identify and recommend the most appropriate visualization tools, generate graphical representations of data and model outcomes, and build compelling stories to integrate multiple pieces of data into cohesive insights.


Essential Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
At least 4 years of experience in an analytics-related field.
Deep knowledge and understanding of machine learning, statistics, and data science.
Strong programming skills in at least one of Python or R.
Ability to execute projects end-to-end, including junior team members.
Implement best practices in ML Ops, coding standards, and other areas.


Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or Ph.D. in a related field.
Experience working with large datasets and developing predictive models.
Strong understanding of business acumen and ability to influence business stakeholder decision-making.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
