Job Summary As a Physical Security Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will lead security plans for our data centers across the Americas. You will work closely with our design team, consisting of architects, engineers, and creators, to develop and deploy secure, scalable, and intelligent data center facilities. Your expertise in physical security design will have a direct impact on the security posture of AWS data centers worldwide. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of security plans, including drawings and specifications, for physical security components such as cameras, access control, intrusion detection, walls, doors, and more. Collaborate with other security teams within AWS to develop design standards, assess costs, risks, and benefits of designs, and engage in design discussions. Communicate conceptual designs to internal stakeholders and external specialists. Participate in the development of Basis of Design, model design, and template specifications for physical security components. Create security plan scope of work for design RFPs. Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design professionals. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively. Travel to site evaluations, internal design meetings, construction reviews, and communicate with design professionals (expected travel not to exceed 25%). Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience in physical security design. 2+ years of experience in physical security design in data centers or similar critical projects. Preferred Qualifications Professional engineering license. Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification. Strong working capability with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite. Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards, including IBC, IFC. Seller and advisor management skills. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to travel globally.
