**Key Responsibilities**

As a part-time professional writing tutor, your primary responsibilities will include:

* Providing content and skill-development tutoring to students individually or in small groups, focusing on writing skills, grammar, and composition.
* Attending all classes as requested by instructors, completing assignments, and assisting instructors as needed.
* Maintaining a tutoring schedule as needed, ensuring that students receive timely and effective support.
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of tutoring sessions, including student progress and feedback.
* Attending and completing required tutor training and professional development sessions, staying up-to-date with best practices in writing instruction and tutoring.
* Developing a good understanding and knowledge of college services, supports, and resources, making appropriate referrals to students as needed.
* Working with instructors to receive information on course topics, ensuring that tutoring sessions are aligned with course objectives.
* Maintaining strict confidentiality of all student information, material, and discussions shared in the tutoring relationship.

**Essential Qualifications**

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess:

* A bachelor's degree in English literature or composition, or a related field (such as speech or communication).
* Some tutoring or teaching experience at the collegiate level.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
* Proficiency in MLA, APA, and Chicago citation styles.
* Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
* Ability to tutor students online using asynchronous and synchronous techniques.
* Ability to help students with speeches, resumes, and mock interviews.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information.

**Preferred Qualifications**

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

* A master's degree in English literature or composition, or a related field.
* Experience working with online tutoring platforms (such as WC Online).
* Fluency with MS Office, including MS Word and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn additional software as needed.
* Tutoring or teaching experience at a community college.
