**Job Summary**
We are seeking an experienced Medical Data Entry Associate to join our coding and compliance team. As a Medical Data Entry Associate, you will be responsible for reviewing and verifying assigned codes and sequences, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding and regulatory requirements, and utilizing web-based tools and coding books to ensure accurate and timely data entry. You will also participate in audits to capture lost charges and gather demographic, insurance, and healthcare encounter information.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Review and verify assigned codes and sequences diagnosis and procedures according to regulations
* Contact physicians for clarification of clinical information as appropriate for account type
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding and regulatory requirements
* Utilize web-based tools, coding books, and other available resources to ensure accurate and timely data entry
* Participate in and assist with audits to capture lost charges
* Gather demographic, insurance, and healthcare encounter information
* Enter and verify the appropriate demographic information, charges, and comments into the computerized billing system
* Perform manual charge entry by gathering demographic, insurance, and healthcare encounter information
* Ensure information entered in the system is done in an accurate and timely manner
* Verify charges on accounts as needed
**Essential Qualifications**
* High school diploma or its equivalent
* No experience necessary, but prior experience in medical data entry or a related field is preferred
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field, such as health information management or medical coding
* Certification in medical coding, such as CPC or CCS
* Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and billing systems
* Familiarity with coding and regulatory requirements, such as ICD-10 and HIPAA
