Experienced Full-Time Custodian – School Building Maintenance and Operations in Worthington, OH

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team and contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of our school buildings. About the Role We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Custodian to work from 6am-2pm, Monday through Friday on a 186-day calendar. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine cleaning, maintenance, and operation tasks in and around our school buildings. Key Responsibilities Dust and mop floors in classrooms, hallways, locker rooms, auditorium, and stairs Sweep, mop, and scrub restrooms, sinks, toilets, partitions, and mirrors Sweep stairs, hallways, gyms, and classrooms Lift heavy objects, such as garbage cans, mop buckets and ringers, containers of wax and chemicals, boxes, cleaning equipment, and paper products Vacuum carpeted floors Apply wax to floors and buff floors Strip wax from floors Empty trash receptacles Move furniture, equipment, and supplies Set and disarm security systems Sweep and shovel snow and de-ice steps and entrance ways Change ballasts on fluorescent light fixtures and change light bulbs Change batteries and lightbulbs on emergency exit lights Climb ladders and adjust ladders to replace lightbulbs and clean light fixtures Report and clean up damage from vandalism Observe and assist students in halls or areas in which the custodian is working Inform day or head custodian orally or in writing of problems that are encountered Set up for meetings Perform minor maintenance tasks Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A high school diploma or equivalent Knowledge of methods used in custodial work Knowledge of equipment used in custodial work Knowledge of various cleaning solutions Knowledge of mechanical and safety shut-offs Some knowledge of the proper use of fire extinguishers Some knowledge of tile floors Ability to read and write Ability to use minor hand and power tools Ability to operate heavy-duty industrial-size buffers Ability to perform heavy physical labor (e.g., lifts heavy objects, bend, twist, climb ladders, lift arms above head, etc.) Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and the public Ability to use technology to complete daily and assigned tasks appropriate for the position Preferred Qualifications We are looking for candidates with: Previous experience in custodial work Knowledge of school building maintenance and operations Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and safe environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines Knowledge of school building maintenance and operations Ability to use technology to complete daily and assigned tasks appropriate for the position Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits We offer a range of career growth opportunities and learning benefits, including: Professional development and training programs Opportunities for advancement and career progression Competitive salary and benefits package Flexible work arrangements and work-life balance Opportunities to work with a dynamic and forward-thinking team Work Environment and Company Culture We offer a positive and supportive work environment, with a focus on: Collaboration and teamwork Professional development and growth Work-life balance and flexibility Competitive compensation and benefits package Opportunities for advancement and career progression Compensation, Perks, and Benefits We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including: A salary range of $21.41-$27.17 per hour A comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement savings plan and matching program Flexible work arrangements and work-life balance Opportunities for professional development and growth How to Apply If you are a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for maintaining a clean and safe environment, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
