Job Summary As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will be at the forefront of our patient-centric approach, interacting with customers and developing strong patient relationships. Key Responsibilities Assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations. Use pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Provide exceptional customer service, engaging with customers and patients, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. Develop strong relationships with valuable customers and model excellent customer service practices. Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy manager, personnel Pharmacist, and store supervisor, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug records. Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, and report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs. Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle coins as required, and take customers to the OTC aisle to assist in finding products. Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist. Assist with stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs. May assist pharmacists in administering medical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples. Education and Personal Development Walgreens is committed to the education and personal development of our pharmacy technicians. Continuing education credits and training programs to maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy. 8 university credit hours recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE) upon completion of our pharmacy technician apprenticeship program. Basic Qualifications Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Preferred Qualifications 6 months of experience in a retail environment. Previous work experience with Walgreens. Desirable math skills, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications. Accurate computer skills. Knowledge of store inventory management.
