Job Summary and Responsibilities
In this exciting role, you will be responsible for leading the development of our media experience layer, working closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement a scalable and reliable architecture for media playback. Your key responsibilities will include:

Collaboration and planning with peer services and front-end teams to ensure a cohesive and seamless user experience
Client module development using coding best practices for the target platform
Innovative work for media playback experiences, including the development of new features and functionality
Participation in project planning and team activities, including agile development methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Leadership and mentorship of junior engineers, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their careers


Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
At least 3 years of experience in Roku SceneGraph and BrightScript development, with a strong understanding of the Roku platform and its ecosystem
At least 3 years of experience working with HLS or MPEG-DASH adaptive streaming solutions, with a strong understanding of video streaming protocols and technologies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience and proficiency working with HLS, transport stream, and CMAF media formats, with a strong understanding of video encoding and decoding technologies


Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not required, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable:

Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure, with a strong understanding of cloud-based architecture and deployment models
Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker, with a strong understanding of container orchestration and management
Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, with a strong understanding of iterative and incremental development practices
Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, with a strong understanding of automated testing and deployment technologies
