**Experienced Financial Counselor (Customer Services) - Remote**

As a Financial Counselor in our Patient Financial Services department, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive timely and accurate financial guidance, empowering them to make informed decisions about their healthcare. **Job Summary:** As a Financial Counselor, you'll be responsible for reviewing insurance eligibility and benefits, creating estimates, and collecting upfront cash as needed. You'll interact with various hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel, and medical staff to identify the appropriate payment source, which may include patient payment and/or referrals for enrollment in government programs such as Medicaid and Charity Care. Your daily tasks will include inpatient and observation patient accounts review, authorization, and benefit determination, as well as creating estimates and collecting point-of-service cash when appropriate. **Key Responsibilities:** * Take actions to support the maximization of collection of balances due or account resolution from all sources, meeting quality and productivity expectations * Facilitate account resolution by accurately identifying, following up on, or correcting billing errors, lower than expected reimbursement, or denials for correction for submission or resubmission to patients and/or insurance carriers * Timely identify, research, and resolve any issues that may cause delays in payment or account resolution, identifying and recommending opportunities to improve collections and follow-up activities * Work collaboratively across teams, with peers, and revenue cycle departments to achieve shared goals and objectives **Essential Qualifications:** * High School Diploma or GED equivalent required within one (1) year of hire; candidates without a High School Diploma or GED equivalent will be provided the opportunity to enroll in a GED/HSEA program at time of hire as a condition of employment * 4 years of similar hospital billing or accounting experience * Knowledge of Charity Care, Uncompensated Care, and Medicaid guidelines and regulations * Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification preferred * Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills * Computer experience required * A minimum of three years of insurance authorization/pre-certification experience required * Knowledge of insurance, insurance verification, and TOS collections * Prior experience in hospital admissions preferred * Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (bilingual preferred) **Preferred Qualifications:** * Preferred experience includes insurance verification, cash collections, and obtaining Notices of Admission (NOA), with knowledge of insurance plans * Experience working in a hospital setting, particularly in patient financial services or revenue cycle departments **Scheduling Requirements:** * Full-time position with occasional travel as needed to Monmouth Medical Center/Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus/Community Medical Center/Hamilton * Remote work arrangement, Monday through Friday, 1p-9p, with rotating every other weekend (1pm-9pm Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays required **Work Environment and Culture:** At arenaflex, we're committed to creating a work environment that supports the physical, emotional, social, and financial health of our employees.
