Job Overview
We are offering a 4-month contract position with the potential for temporary to permanent placement based on performance. As a Data Entry Specialist, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our business operations team by performing processing tasks such as data entry, scanning, mail sorting, and other related activities. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data entry, as well as providing backup support to other team members as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Perform data entry tasks with high accuracy and attention to detail, utilizing 10-key and alphanumeric data entry skills
Transcribe routine pre-coded and identifiable alphanumeric data from source documents and/or phone calls into an automated system
Ensure accuracy and completeness of data entry, with a focus on quality and attention to detail
Perform clerical tasks in the data entry function, including receiving and distributing incoming mail and materials
Enter Medical claims data into the Claims System, via 10-key and alphanumeric data entry
Screen medical claim forms for completeness of data and route claims to other areas as needed
Adjudicate and suspend claims when appropriate, utilizing sound judgment and decision-making skills
Provide backup support to other team/group members in the performance of job duties as assigned, including mail room activities
Perform document scanning and processing in the mail room, as well as numeric filing and other clerical tasks


Essential Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or related experience preferred
Previous experience in data entry, preferably in a medical claims or related environment
Strong 10-key and alphanumeric data entry skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Basic computer skills and familiarity with automated systems and software applications
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a team environment
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines


Preferred Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business administration, healthcare, or information technology
Previous experience in a medical claims or healthcare environment, with knowledge of medical terminology and coding
Advanced computer skills, including experience with database management and software applications
Certification in data entry or a related field, such as Certified Data Entry Specialist (CDES) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS)
