About the Role We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Science & Analytics team, focusing on delivering exceptional customer experiences through data-driven insights. As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software engineers, and customer service business owners, to design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable data pipelines. Your expertise will enable the transformation of raw data into core business metrics, leveraging custom visualization tools to surface critical customer service insights. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data pipelines using big data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink, handling medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records). Apply strong data modeling skills to create adaptable structures that accommodate changes in source data or business processes. Utilize Python or Scala to write clean, supportable code, with a strong focus on data quality and advanced SQL skills. Analyze business problems, develop metrics, and prioritize tasks autonomously, demonstrating analytical aptitude and technical judgment. Communicate effectively and build productive partnerships with analysts, engineers, and business leaders to drive data-driven decision-making. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: At least 4 years of experience in engineering data pipelines using big data technologies on medium to large-scale data sets. Strong data modeling skills, with the ability to design adaptable structures that accommodate changes in source data or business processes. Proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code. Advanced SQL skills and a strong advocacy for data quality. Analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through business problems and prioritize tasks autonomously. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and technologies. Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques. Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems. Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
