The Role
As a Data Engineer within our Data Science & Analytics team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the customer experience by developing and maintaining reliable, scalable data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software engineers, and business owners, to transform raw data into actionable business metrics. Your work will have a direct impact on our ability to resolve customer issues efficiently and effectively, ultimately enhancing the overall streaming experience for our members.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain large-scale data pipelines using big data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink, handling medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records)
Develop and implement data models that are adaptable to changes in source data or business processes, ensuring data quality and integrity
Write clean, supportable code in Python or Scala, with a strong focus on data quality and advocacy for best practices
Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and business leaders to develop and prioritize business metrics, ensuring alignment with customer service goals and objectives
Work with custom visualization tools to surface customer service insights, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization


Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:

At least 4 years of experience engineering data pipelines using big data technologies, with a strong understanding of data modeling and data quality principles
Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code
Strong analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through complex business problems and prioritize autonomously
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams, including analysts, engineers, and business leaders


Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or GCP
Knowledge of data visualization tools and technologies, such as Tableau or Power BI
Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
