Job Summary As a Big Data Analyst at Southwest Airlines, you will play a critical role in enabling the company to make informed business decisions by analyzing complex data sets and providing actionable recommendations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Science, AI, and Business Intelligence, to design and implement data management solutions that meet the needs of our business stakeholders. This is a full-time, remote position that offers a competitive salary of $26 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package. Key Responsibilities Drive complex self-service data integration projects that unite data from disparate sources to make it accessible to business users, including data scientists, analysts, and business intelligence users. Lead informal teams to apply advanced data integration methodologies and tools to large datasets to create solutions that can be used in descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. Communicate with business leaders across multiple and simultaneous projects to drive definition and communication of solutions and decisions. Serve as a subject matter expert for data assets and monitor the ongoing effectiveness of data assets being used by business users in self-service environments. Support the ongoing development of the Southwest Airlines data science center and community. Perform other job duties as directed by management. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics. Intermediate knowledge of both inductive and deductive reasoning and problem-solving approaches. Transitional knowledge in assessing and applying suitable data analysis and statistical method(s) for a business problem. Transitional knowledge in acquiring and consuming data in both relational and non-SQL databases. Partial knowledge in integrating, storing, and processing large amounts of data necessary for analysis and modeling. Skilled in at least one data programming language and open-source tools. Skilled in at least one data integration and business intelligence tool. Skilled in technology platforms and models relevant to creating and maintaining self-service data assets. Talented in critical thinking and project management skills. Able to communicate in a connecting way with strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Able to adapt well to different situations and change approaches/philosophy if necessary to actually and effectively meet goals. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in a related field, such as Master's or Ph.D. Experience working in a remote environment and collaborating with distributed teams. Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and tools, such as AWS or Azure. Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI. Certification in data science or a related field, such as Certified Data Scientist (CDS) or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP).
