About the position

The University of Olivet, a liberal arts institution with an historical commitment to inclusion, diversity, and social justice, seeks a Director of Online Teaching Pathways/ Assistant Professor of Education to join its Online Degree Completion program serving undergraduate students. Hires at other ranks may be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications. The University of Olivet’s online teaching pathways program is a rapidly growing program now exceeding 100 students and projected to surpass 150 next year. Unlike traditional teacher preparation programs, UO’s program includes coursework from alternative route programs (#TEACH or Teachers of Tomorrow),which allows students to begin that pathway before graduation. Upon graduation, students are required to complete an alternative route program to become fully licensed. The flexibility in our program is ideal for adults who are working in the classroom or interested in switching careers. It also allows us to work with students in states across the country.

Responsibilities
• Partnership maintenance with the alternative route programs and grant programs
• Faculty oversight
• Student advising oversight
• Academic quality and compliance assurance
• Develop a solid understanding of licensing requirements and processes in multiple states
• Teach 24 credit hours (or the equivalent) over the academic year
• Advising and mentoring students
• Engaging in scholarly activities
• Supporting the university and its mission through departmental and university committee participation, program and curriculum development, and other service

Requirements
• MA in Teaching, Curriculum, Educational Leadership, or other educational field (doctorate preferred)
• Extensive PK-12 teaching experience
• Ability to share passion for teaching with adult students
• Knowledgeable and current in the field
• Embrace Olivet’s relationship-based approach to pedagogy
• Embody our commitment to inclusivity
