Data Scientist Consultant
This is a 6 month consulting position with possibility for extension at the end of the term.
Position Summary:
The Data Science Consultant will help the Specialty Food Association (SFA) spearhead the formation and scaling of our Data Transformation function.
The role will be instrumental in shaping our enterprise data strategy and will take the lead in building a modern Data Integration Platform, positioning the organization for advanced analytics, AI/ML adoption and future-ready operations. The role reports to VP of Technology. The role will work in close partnership with the Director, Fata Analytics & Insights to ensure that science, architecture integration, and insights come together to deliver end-to-end business value.
The role is ideal for a leader who can think strategically, deliver at scale and is passionate about transforming legacy systems into intelligent, connected platforms.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
• Lead the enterprise-wide Data Science strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals, digital transformation efforts and analytics maturity
• Oversee the design and implementation of Data Warehouse enabling scalable, secure and governed access to enterprise data assets
• Develop and operationalize machine learning models that deliver measurable value in customer intelligence, operational efficiency and strategic forecasting.
• Partner with the Director, Data Analytics & Insights to ensure alignment between predictive analytics and business intelligence/reporting.
• Collaborate with business, product and technology leaders to identify and prioritize AI/ML use cases and embed data-driven decision-making across functions.
• Ensure architectural integrity and scalability of all data platforms and pipelines, in compliance with security, privacy and governance standards.
• Champion data quality, governance, and ethical AI practices and serve as a senior advisor on responsible data usage across the organization
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies and make strategic recommendations on new tools, frameworks and capabilities
• Own and evolve the data and AI technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and driving adoption of modern, cloud=-native and scalable data solutions
Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
• Progressive experience in data science, data engineering, or data platform leadership roles 10+ years
• Technical leadership role 5+ years
• Proven experience building or overseeing data integration or data platform initiatives
• Strong knowledge of modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, etc.), cloud environments and streaming technologies
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and initiatives in complex or transformation-heavy technical environments
• Deep understanding of machine learning, Python/R and model lifecycle management
• Direct experience implementing Salesforce Data Cloud of similar CDPs, including data ingestion, identity resolution and activation.
• Familiarity with Salesforce ecosystems and real-time data activation
• Expertise in data engineering, including ELT/ELT, real time pipelines and orchestration tools
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management and privacy regulations
• Outstanding communication skills, ability to influence and align diverse teams around data-driven strategies
• Ability to lead organizational transformation, evangelizing data-driven culture
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
