Credit Strategy Data Scientist Remote Contract opportunity with our San Jose, CA client We are seeking a talented and data-driven Credit Strategy Data Scientist to join our clients Credit Risk Strategy team. This role focuses on credit risk assessment, data analysis, and the development of predictive strategies to mitigate losses and optimize customer eligibility. Ideal candidates will bring strong analytical skills, a strategic mindset, and hands-on experience working with large datasets in the fintech or online payments space. Responsibilities: • Design rules and strategies to detect and mitigate credit losses • Investigate high-impact or complex credit risk cases and identify root causes • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve control capabilities • Develop, refine, and present credit strategies for execution • Balance customer experience and business risk to maximize eligible customers while minimizing losses • Create dashboards and visualizations to track KPIs and strategy performance • Analyze data using internal platforms (e.g., RaaS) to identify loss patterns and propose optimizations • Communicate findings and strategic recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders Qualifications: • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Mining, or related field (or equivalent practical experience) • 2+ years of experience in risk analytics, data science, or data analysis in fintech or online payments • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, and core data science libraries • Experience working with large datasets and conducting complex data analyses • Ability to clearly communicate technical results through dashboards, visualizations (e.g., Tableau), and storytelling • Proven ability to manage ambiguity and translate data insights into action-oriented outcomes Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with AWS, credit products, or payment rule systems • Familiarity with credit risk modeling, fraud mitigation, or loss prevention strategies • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills Hourly Rate: $50 Apply tot his job
