The Contracts Counsel is responsible for all aspects of drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on Veracyte’s contracts. This position will lead the Legal team’s review of vendor agreements, CLIA laboratory services agreements, IVD sales agreements, and biopharma customer agreements.Other key responsibilities will include:Leading improvements to Veracyte’s contract management system (currently Ironclad)Developing templates and playbooksWorking with business partners to identify and mitigate contractual risksCollaborating with the Deputy General Counsel and Sr. Corporate Counsel on Veracyte’s contract policies and proceduresSupporting colleagues who are responsible for NDAs, research collaboration agreements, and managed care contractsThis position will report to the Deputy General Counsel based in San Francisco.Qualifications:JD (or equivalent) with active bar membership, with at least 8 years of legal experienceLife sciences (diagnostic, medical device, CRO, biotech or pharma) experience requiredIn-house experience at a global corporation requiredExceptional legal drafting skills with an affinity for using language to achieve compromiseAbility to analyze complex business and legal issues/risks in order to advance practical solutionsExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsAbility to take a business and client-focused approach to difficult decisions – including thinking “outside the box” on practical solutionsAble to engage team members in order to achieve objectivesStrong prioritization skills; ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environmentWho You Are:You have initiative, enthusiasm, and resourcefulnessYou are a team player with a passion for collaboration and patient careRather than saying “no,” you work with your business partners in a collaborative way to find solutions where solutions can be foundYou are open to growth and learning, and are not afraid to fail and take calculated and appropriate risk by balancing it with business judgmentYou take pride in developing and enabling the best work of your colleagues.
