Configuration Manager
Position Summary:Revolution Space is seeking a high-ownership Configuration & Quality Manager to establish and enforce configuration control while driving disciplined execution of quality system fundamentals. This is a hands-on, ownership role responsible for building and enforcing configuration discipline in a fast-scaling aerospace environment. This is not a passive or administrative role.The selected candidate will serve as the authoritative owner of configuration management across the enterprise, ensuring product baselines are accurate, controlled, and audit-ready at all times. In parallel, this role will provide targeted quality system support to maintain compliance, drive corrective actions to closure, and strengthen operational rigor.This position is designed for a growing aerospace company transitioning from startup execution to repeatable, scalable discipline. Success requires initiative, judgment, and the ability to drive action across engineering, manufacturing, and program teams.Candidates with direct experience operating and administering Arena Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) in a production environment will be given priority consideration.The position is full-time, remote.Responsibilities:Configuration Management (Primary Responsibility)Own and enforce configuration control across hardware, software, and technical dataDefine, implement, and continuously improve configuration management (CM) processes, standards, and tools Develop and maintain Configuration Management Plans (CMPs) at program and enterprise levelServe as system owner and administrator for the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systemEstablish and control:Part numbering schemesBills of Materials (BOMs)Item attributes and lifecycle statesOwn the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process end-to-end:Intake → evaluation → approval → execution → closureEstablish and maintain:Product baselines (design, build, as-built)Configuration Status Accounting (CSA)Lead and enforce discipline within the Configuration Control Board (CCB):Drive decisionsPrevent uncontrolled changeEnsure closure of actionsPrepare for and support:Configuration auditsManufacturing and readiness reviewsDesign ReviewsCompile and validate End Item Data Packages (EIDPs) for delivered productsInterface across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management to maintain a single authoritative data sourceCoordinate configuration data and change packages with suppliers Quality Systems Support (Secondary Responsibility)Support execution and maturation of the Quality Management System (QMS) (e.g., AS9100 / ISO 9001 aligned)Maintain controlled documentation, records, and data repositoriesSupport:Internal auditsExternal auditsCorrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processesParticipate in and help drive:Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigationsClosure effectiveness verification Identify configuration or quality system risks early and initiate corrective actionsSupport supplier quality coordination as requiredContribute to development and maintenance of procedures, work instructions, and governance artifactsProvide configuration and quality input into design, manufacturing, and readiness reviewsRequired Qualifications:Associate’s degree (or higher) in engineering, technical, or quality-related discipline5–10+ years experience in:Configuration ManagementQuality SystemsOr integrated CM/QA rolesDirect experience in:Aerospace, defense, or complex hardware environmentsHands-on experience:Administering or serving as a power user of a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systemManaging Engineering Change processes (ECO/ECN)Working knowledge of:Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as AS9100 or ISO 9001CAPA and RCCA processes Experience integrating CM with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systemsDemonstrated ability to:Drive actions to closureOperate with minimal oversightInfluence cross-functional teamsStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint)Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fieldBackground in:Mission AssuranceManufacturing QualityDirect experience with Arena PLM is strongly preferred and will be prioritized during candidate evaluation due to alignment with current company systems and immediate operational needsExperience with Agile PLM, Windchill, or similar systems also consideredExperience supporting:Formal auditsConfiguration or corrective action boardsFamiliarity with:ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)EAR (Export Administration
