Role Summary

The Commissions & Payroll Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for overseeing all payroll functions, including regular salary payments, commissions calculations, bonus payments, and to ensure the timely preparation of accurate financial information for internal and external stakeholders. We seek an experienced accounting professional with payroll processing and commissions calculating experience.

This is a remote position. The preferred candidate will have the freedom to work from his/her preferred location.

Key Responsibilities

Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

Calculate commissions payments on a monthly and quarterly basis in a accordance with approved compensation plans

Reconcile commissions payouts against bookings and revenue data, resolve discrepancies.

Respond to employees or management inquiries regarding commission or payroll calculations and provide supporting documentation.

Coordinate annual updates to Commissions Plan as needed.

Assist with drafting Individual Compensation Plans for sales team members.

Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.

Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.

Assist in preparing financial analyses and schedules necessary for audit, and coordinate audit requests with team members

Support various special projects and ad hoc tasks as necessary.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting required.

2 + years in payroll, commissions or accounting operations.

Payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state and global environment

Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations

Goal-oriented personality capable of multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.

Highly motivated, organized, and adaptable.

High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.

Consistently take ownership of assigned tasks and identify areas for improvement.

Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while collaborating effectively across teams

Bachelor's degree in accounting required.

Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)

Experience using Sage Intacct, Rippling, Tipalti, Carta, Salesforce, and Google Sheets preferred but not required.

Bonus: experience working in the clean technology industry.

\n$75,000 - $85,000 a year
Base pay is $75,000-$85,000 annually, commensurate with experience, with 10% bonus paid annually, and equity.
