Civil Design Engineer, Substation

Pacific Gas and Electric Company is seeking a Civil/Structural Design Engineer in their Substation Civil Engineering department. The role involves developing civil, structural, and environmental designs for high voltage substations, preparing construction drawings, and collaborating with various stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesActively promote safe practices and conduct in accordance with the Corporate Safety policyDesign and retrofit steel structures, reinforced concrete foundations, anchorage, retaining walls, control buildings and equipment supports per PG&E Design CriteriaDesign access roads, drainage and soil retention systems, and grading and layout of new substationsDesign spill containment systems for large oil-filled electrical equipment for environmental compliancePrepare construction drawings using MicroStation Bentley Substation 3D softwareProvide Construction Administration assistance to the Responsible Engineer, including review of shop drawings, RFIs and submittalsFoster teamwork and innovation and embrace new approaches to accomplish our work more efficiently and effectivelyTravel 10% of the timeSkillsHolds a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or graduating with a bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering by June 2026; or its equivalent in education and experience to include education and design drafting experience totaling six years; or education and experience totaling four years including two years at PG&E as a Design Drafter or Senior Design DrafterMust possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License by day 1 of hire1 year of experience in structural engineeringMasters degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringEIT or PE LicenseKnowledge of building codes including ASCE 7, CBC, ACI 318 and AISC 360Experience with SAP2000 or equivalent structural analysis softwareExperienced with MS OfficeCompany OverviewPacific Gas and Electric Company, incorporated in California in 1905, is one of the largest combination natural gas and electric utilities in the United States.
