The Category Analyst role involves gathering and analyzing data to support departmental decisions, monitor inventory and sales, and optimize business performance. This position requires collaboration with Category Managers and entails responsibilities such as customer service, pricing analysis, and performance monitoring.ResponsibilitiesProvides support to the departmental Category ManagersProvide customer service to all store locations regarding questions, issues and concerns within the merchandise departments being supported, ordering and deliveriesResponsible for learning, using, and maintaining internal wholesale / retail software systemsWorks with the team to monitor and track pricing, promotions, purchasing, costs, inventory levels and logisticsResponsible for all billingβs promotions, free fill, and all on-going discounts from start to finishWork with Category Managers to build and maintain schematicsPrepares and presents comprehensive evaluation of data as requested and develops clear and concise communication to identify opportunitiesMonitors performance of eCommerce sites and troubleshoots issuesMonitors daily, weekly and monthly performance specific to each store and compiles analysis for total company comparisons using internal software programsDemonstrates knowledge of and supports company standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions and confidentiality standardsHelps to creates pricing, promotion, assortment and shelf schematics for each assigned category, based on detailed analysis of past performance, results, industry best practices, and consumer trendsHelps with correlation of data with vendors on pricing, product assortment, promotion, ads, services, promotional calendars, and support; acts as primary contact with vendors in assigned categoriesMaintains and reviews price files and competitive price checks to ensure we are priced competitively within each market we operateWorks in conjunction with operations and other departments across the company to facilitate implementation of programsOther duties as assignedSkillsB.S./B.A. degree in a business or accounting and/or equivalent work experienceKnowledge of financial acumen specific to profit & loss statements and analysisMust have expert knowledge with MS Office including Outlook, Word and ExcelExpert experience in Excel requiredAbility to adapt to the ever-changing retail environment while working in a cross-functional team environmentMust have the ability to take initiative when problems ariseAbility to adapt and be flexible in a variety of situationsMust have advanced attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlinesAdvanced written communication and documentation skillsAdvanced verbal communication and interpersonal skills for dealing cross functionally with peers and senior managementAbility to multitask is essentialThis candidate must be well-organized, a team player and can multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environmentPreferred grocery retail experienceBenefitsWeekly payScheduling flexibilityPaid parental leaveTeam member discountCareer growth opportunitiesMedical, dental, and life insurance24/7 Employee Assistance Program401(k) plan with an employer matchCompany OverviewMeijer is a shopping website for grocery, health, and beauty care.
