About the Role: Cafeteria Assistant @ LHS As a Cafeteria Assistant, you will be an integral part of our Nutrition Team, working together to provide nutritious meals that not only satisfy students' appetites but also promote healthy eating habits. Your contributions will directly impact the well-being and academic performance of our students, making this a truly rewarding role. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, ensuring the highest quality and nutritional value. Follow strict sanitation and safety procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment for food preparation and service. Serve food attractively and efficiently during meal periods, ensuring that students receive their meals in a timely manner. Monitor food temperatures on serving lines to prevent food from entering the danger zone. Portion food according to nutritional guidelines and regulations for fund reimbursement. Implement a clean-up routine that maintains a sanitary and attractive workplace, achieving high scores on health inspections. Demonstrate efficient work habits to increase productivity and complete tasks within the allotted time. Support the nutrition program and overall school program as a team player, fostering good communication among students, faculty, parents, and nutrition staff. Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to changing needs and priorities. Qualifications and Requirements: To be successful in this role, you must meet the following qualifications: Demonstrate the ability to read and understand English, as well as work with simple math problems. Possess a minimum education level of a GED; an official high school diploma or official GED certificate is required. Meet initial specifications for national certification by the School Nutrition Association (SNA) within the first twelve calendar months of employment and maintain annual educational recertification requirements. Preferred qualifications include: Previous experience in a school cafeteria or food service environment. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures. Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing 25+ pounds. Essential Skills and Competencies: Strong communication and teamwork skills. Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. Physical stamina to lift, move, and perform tasks that require standing and walking. Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
