CAD Technician I

The CAD Technician I supports Infrastructure Engineering projects by producing accurate CAD drawings and converting field data into construction documents that comply with standards.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and maintain CAD drawings, base maps, plan sheets, details, and exhibits using AutoCAD in accordance with established CAD and design standardsDevelop drawings depicting existing conditions (topography, utilities, right of way, easements, site/floor plans) and proposed OSP and telecommunications infrastructureConvert field notes, sketches, redlines, permits, and verbal or written direction into clean, accurate, and coordinated CAD deliverablesCollect, review, and organize records from city, county, state, and utility agencies, including tax maps, surveys, utility maps, and construction drawingsPerform self checks and participate in peer Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standardsMaintain and update existing design files and documentation throughout the project lifecycleCollaborate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to meet scope, schedule, and quality expectationsMay conduct periodic field visits or site walks to verify existing conditions and support design developmentTroubleshoot and resolve basic CAD related technical issues and support continuous improvement of drafting processesPerform other duties as assignedSkillsAssociate degree in ComputerAided Design (CAD), Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related fieldMinimum of 1 to 3 years of experience working as a CAD Technician, preferably within the telecommunications industryProven experience in creating detailed technical drawings and plans using CAD softwareFamiliarity with telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optics, cable layouts, and network schematicsExperience in collaborating with engineers and project managers to interpret design specifications and translate them into technical drawingsProficiency in AutoCAD; exposure to Civil 3D, GIS (e.g., ArcGIS), or 3D modeling toolsStrong understanding of drafting standards, engineering principles, and telecommunications design requirementsExcellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate and precise drawingsStrong analytical and problem solving skills to identify and resolve design discrepancies or technical issuesAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment, effectively communicating with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholdersStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environmentFamiliarity with industry specific regulations and standards related to telecommunications infrastructureEffective verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly and conciselyWillingness to adapt to new technologies and continuously improve technical skills through ongoing training and developmentStrong understanding of civil based infrastructure drafting, including survey data, utility maps, easements, GPS/GIS data, and construction documentationDemonstrates professionalism, dependability, punctuality, and the ability to perform under deadline pressureProficient with Microsoft 365 applications and PDF markup tools (e.g., Bluebeam)A bachelor's degree in a relevant fieldBenefitsComplete medical, dental, vision, and life insurance is available.Our safe harbor 401(k) plan is available to employees on day one and includes a 100% fully vested employer match of up to 4% of your compensation.Eight paid holidays, flexible Take What You Need PTO and 16 hours of paid volunteer time!Lightspeed Networks employees can also take advantage of local employee store passes at Columbia Sportswear, Adidas, and Costal Farms for big discounts!Company OverviewLSN was founded in 2005 by a consortium of electric cooperatives with the goal of bringing better data communication services It was founded in 2005, and is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, USA, with a workforce of 51-200 employees.
