About the position
PeaceHealth is seeking a Billing/Follow-up Specialist - Government for a full-time position responsible for managing all phases of billing and account follow-up. The role focuses on ensuring thorough and consistent account resolution to promote financial health, including claims submission, follow-up with insurance payors, and resolving reimbursement issues for a multi-facility, multi-specialty organization.
Responsibilities
Ā Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials and non-payment of claims by payors.

Ā Identify trends in billing and follow-up to expedite resolution of insurance accounts.
,
Ā Draft appeals to insurance companies for reimbursement of owed monies.
,
Ā Maintain daily account follow-up work lists while meeting productivity standards.
,
Ā Ensure compliance with payer contracts and policies for claims processing.
,
Ā Identify, research, and resolve credit balances, missing payments, payer recoupments, and unposted cash.
,
Ā Process and maintain correspondence from patients and insurance companies regarding billing and payment.
,
Ā Submit issues to coding for review to ensure compliance with organizational processes.
,
Ā Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, co-workers, and supervisors.
,
Ā Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Ā High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree preferred.
,
Ā Minimum of 2 years of experience in a billing or insurance account follow-up capacity required.
,
Ā Formal training or college coursework from a medical coding accredited school may be considered in lieu of experience.
,
Ā Experience with medical terminology required.
,
Ā Knowledge of insurance processes and billing guidelines regulations required.
,
Ā Proficient use of computers including Microsoft Office applications required.
,
Ā Skilled in 10-key by touch and keyboarding required.
,
Ā Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
,
Ā Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines required.
,
Ā Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting required.
