Automotive - Private Party Buyer – Utah

Private Party Buyer | Field-Based

Territory: Salt Lake City, Utah
Headquarters: Boise, Idaho (vehicles transported to HQ)

Who We Are

Maverick Car Company exists to prove something rare:
you can run a successful automotive business without sacrificing people, integrity, or trust.

We believe private-party sellers deserve a better experience one that is clear, respectful, and simple. We focus on building long-term relationships, disciplined processes, and teams that care deeply about how work gets done.

We’ve already earned traction in Utah. Now we’re expanding thoughtfully, building a local acquisition team to represent Maverick in-market; not solo operators, not high-pressure grinders; just professionals doing deals the right way.

The Role

As a Vehicle Acquisition Specialist in Utah, you’ll be boots on the ground, working alongside another local buyer to cover the territory. You’ll meet sellers, evaluate vehicles, and guide private-party sales that feel calm, fair, and professional from start to finish.

This role is about initiative, curiosity, and creative problem-solving. The best deals don’t always come from obvious sources; you’ll spot opportunities, reach out proactively, and build connections wherever potential arises.

You will have meaningful autonomy, but success comes from collaboration, sound judgment, and consistent execution; not speed or pressure tactics.

This is not a traditional volume buyer role. How the deal is handled matters just as much as the deal itself.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Support and Execute Private-Party Buying in Utah
• Work collaboratively with another Utah-based buyer to cover the territory efficiently
• Engage with sellers through inbound and outbound channels (KSL, Marketplace, referrals, direct inquiries)
• Build trust quickly and guide sellers through a transparent, low-pressure process
• Conduct in-person inspections assessing cosmetic condition, mechanical health, and market fit
• Appraise vehicles accurately using market data and your expertise
• Negotiate fairly and confidently; protecting margin while maintaining trust
• Coordinate vehicle logistics and transport to Maverick’s Boise headquarters

Represent Maverick in the Field
• Be a consistent, professional point of contact for sellers
• Communicate clearly, proactively, and follow through on commitments
• Create an experience sellers remember for the right reasons
• Partner closely with the Boise team to ensure smooth handoffs and clean execution

Grow With the Utah Team
• Share insights and creative leads with your teammate; sometimes the best deals come from unexpected places
• Participate in ongoing coaching and development with Maverick leadership
• Help refine and strengthen the Utah acquisition process as the market expands
• Step into expanded responsibility or leadership as the territory grows

Who You Are

You may be a great fit if you:
• Care deeply about doing right by people even when it’s not the fastest path
• Are sales-minded and proactive able to spot opportunities anywhere and take initiative to act
• Understand vehicles mechanically and know how they perform in the market
• Bring 2+ years of experience in automotive buying, appraisal, sales, or a related role
• Communicate calmly, clearly, and confidently in person
• Are organized, accountable, and comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Don’t let obstacles stop you; you find ways to connect, problem-solve, and keep deals moving
• Are comfortable traveling throughout Utah to meet sellers
• Take ownership, solve problems, and operate without ego

This role is not a fit for someone who relies on pressure, inflated promises, or “winning” negotiations at the expense of trust.

Why Maverick
• Independent, values-driven dealership with a modern, transparent approach
• Clear expectations and leadership support; no guessing games
• A collaborative, high-trust environment
• Established tools, systems, and market presence in Utah
• Opportunity to grow with the team and take on expanded responsibility
• Work you can stand behind; with sellers, teammates, and yourself

Ready to Join?

If this role feels like a chance to build something better in Utah — spotting opportunities, connecting with sellers, and growing a collaborative market presence — we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and let’s see if this is a fit.
