As a key member of our Teens & Young Adult Services (TYAS) department, you will oversee innovative programming, manage staff, and ensure seamless service delivery. About A Place Called Home A Place Called Home is a vibrant, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth and families in South Central Los Angeles. Our comprehensive range of programs and services includes educational initiatives, counseling, mentoring, arts and music classes, fitness and wellness opportunities, and more. We strive to create a supportive environment where young people can discover their interests and talents, develop essential life skills, and become active, positive contributors to their communities. Key Responsibilities TYAS Staff Management • Recruit, screen, train, and supervise TYAS department staff, including the PREP Senior Manager, Higher Education Program Senior Manager, Mentoring Coordinator, and Mentoring Assistant. • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, department meetings, and quarterly evaluations to monitor goal progress and provide feedback. • Foster a culture of transparency, open communication, and accountability within the TYAS team. TYAS Program Management • Develop and implement programs and services aligned with APCH's mission, strategic plan, and Logic Model, including College Readiness, Higher Education Scholarships, Professional Readiness and Employment Programs, Youth Mentoring, and Life Skills Development. • Provide oversight of program curriculum and ensure alignment with long-term outcomes. • Facilitate the implementation of new program initiatives, such as Speaker Series, Community Service activities, International Exchange programs, and Parent involvement projects. • Organize and plan department schedules, ensuring seamless program delivery. Opportunity Youth Initiative • Collaborate with the IMPACT Program to engage opportunity youth ages 14-22 in TYAS programming. • Interact and share resources with APCH departments and partner organizations to maximize impact. Financial Oversight • Create and manage department budgets in collaboration with the Senior Director of Programs. • Provide oversight of grant expenditures, ensuring alignment with grant restrictions and managing spending timelines. • Audit budget trackers to ensure accurate financial reporting. Partner Stewardship • Develop relationships and partnerships with community organizations to supplement programs and services. • Identify strategic partner organizations to enhance program offerings. • Support and steward partnerships with educational partners to meet program goals and benchmarks. Data Tracking & Reporting • Conduct student evaluations and track program effectiveness. • Create and maintain documentation, reports, and information as necessary. • Submit reports for grant updates, board reports, and metrics to the Senior Director of Programs. Requirements & Qualifications Essential Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Social Services or a related field. • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with youth (ages 14-22). • 3 years of experience in managing department staff in a supervisory role. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Professionalism, customer service, time management, flexibility, and attention to detail. • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite. Preferred Qualifications • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency. • Experience with program development, implementation, and evaluation. • Familiarity with youth development principles and best practices.
