Associate Director, Software Development Engineering

Role Summary Review requirements, technical specifications, and customer deployment models to evaluate various data store technologies from global customers across different geographical regions. Architect and manage scalable, geo-redundant, and high-throughput database solutions utilizing technologies such as MySQL OLTP, Scylla, Cassandra, Couchbase, Swift Object Storage, Infobright, SingleStore, Yugabyte, and Elasticsearch, ensuring scalability, virtualization, and performance. Lead the design of database sizing, OLTP models, and administrative solutions for Mavenir's voice, video, messaging, and content delivery systems. Manage a team of engineers to deliver high-quality database software solutions, including writing and reviewing unit and integration test cases. Evaluate, design, and implement benchmarking tools for system load and performance testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Mavenir's portfolio of 4G and 5G products, including UCC, CDB, HSS, RCS, mStore, SMSC, MMSC, Voicemail, Messaging, NWDAF, RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) and NFV Suite, to define database design and interface requirements. Assist with troubleshooting critical customer database issues by analyzing logs, database reports, and performance metrics. Participate in customer discussions regarding database architecture, deployment models, and monitoring frameworks to ensure optimized performance. Continuously monitor and recommend improvements for software quality and development processes. Conduct and participate in code reviews, including upgrading database scripts and auditing Python scripts. Author technical whitepapers on distributed database systems. Position is fixed location based in Richardson office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed. Job Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field (foreign equivalent acceptable) and five (5) years of experience in database engineering. Must have five (5) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently): • Database Development and management, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning • Defining overall database strategy to ensure alignment with organizational goals • Providing technical direction for database architecture, design, and operations • Leading initiatives to adopt innovative database technologies, including distributed systems and cloud databases • Optimizing performance and scalability of database systems across platforms • Establishing best practices and governance frameworks • Scripting and automation for database administration, monitoring and management • Mentoring and developing a high-performing database engineering team • Database Security • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity 40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm, Salary: $149,781.00/year.
