Assistant Bookkeeper

• Assist with general ledger accounting, ensuring all journal entries are accurately recorded using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and vendor communication
• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure consistency across financial statements
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation to verify account accuracy
• Prepare financial reports and assist with financial report writing for internal review or external audits
• Manage payroll processing and related tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
• Support budgeting activities by analyzing expenses and assisting with financial planning tasks
• Proven experience with bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably within corporate or non-profit settings
• Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar tools; familiarity with Quicken is a plus
• Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries
• Experience with bank reconciliation, account analysis, general ledger accounting, and financial concepts
• Ability to perform detailed account analysis and account reconciliation efficiently
• Excellent organizational skills with a focus on accuracy in data entry (10 key typing skills preferred)
• Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and tax experience is advantageous
• Strong communication skills to document financial processes clearly and collaborate effectively within teams
