As a member of the Application Security team, you’ll be part of the process that contributes to securing, validating and sustaining Capital One products, which millions of customers across the world use on a daily basis. Capital One Application Security is on the cutting edge of many security issues for a wide variety of platforms and technologies including cloud applications, mobile devices and APIs, all operating at massive scale. The Capital One Application Security team is looking for an Application Security Engineer to help validate that our services, applications and websites are designed and implemented to the highest security standards. You will be responsible for analyzing the security of applications and services, discovering and addressing security issues, building security automation and quickly reacting to new threat scenarios. You will have the opportunity to learn from, and be mentored by, those who are building and securing our cutting-edge applications. An Application Security Engineer at Capital One is expected to be strong in multiple domains and provide significant contributions to the Capital One Security team. Security engineers are expected to develop solutions and apply appropriate decision making to complex business problems, all while adhering to security engineering best practices. In addition, an Application Security Engineer must foster constructive dialogue and seek resolution when confronted with discordant views. Engineers in this role are expected to participate fully in the planning of the team's work and constantly seek opportunities for process improvements. A successful candidate will need a combination of troubleshooting, technical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle a mix of tasks which may include project and software development work. Responsibilities • API and web application security reviews • Mobile application security reviews • Projects and research work as needed • Security training and outreach to internal development teams • Security guidance documentation • Security tool development • Security metrics delivery and improvements • Assistance with recruiting activities and administrative work Requirements • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification • At least 4 years of experience with dynamic application security, web, API or mobile security, secure coding, or software development or a combination of • At least 4 years of experience with security engineering or application security Nice-to-haves • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science • 2+ years experience testing APIs, web and mobile applications • 2+ years experience with multiple programming languages (Java, Python, Perl, etc.) Apply tot his job
