SUMMARY:
Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course by course basis throughout an academic year.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ā• Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two (2) courses) within the required discipline. Instruction may be delivered on-campus, off-campus, or online and may be during the day and/or evening as dictated by student demand and departmental needs.
Ā• Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards (for didactic courses).
Ā• Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments (for didactic courses).
Ā• Supervise clinical practice activities (simulation and clinical agencies) as assigned.
Ā• Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class and clinical, assignments, and examinations.
Ā• Participates in course planning meetings as appropriate.
Ā• Submits end of course reports as appropriate.
Ā• Assist/mentor students as needed.
Ā• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Ā• Education: Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field is required to teach undergraduate courses OR a terminal degree in the field of study or closely related is required to teach graduate courses.
Ā• Experience: One year clinical experience in the teaching area.
Ā• Knowledge / Skills: Knowledge of patient care in practice area related to teaching assignment. Skilled in teaching pedagogy and nursing skills related to teaching assignment. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ā• Ability to: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Ā• Licensing/Professional Certifications: Texas R.N. Licensure or Texas APRN licensure as FNP (graduate clinical courses)
Ā• Physical Requirements: able to perform nursing and teaching skills associated with assignment
Ā• Other Requirements: Documentation of meeting clinical readiness requirements (immunizations, insurance and BCLS as required of students).
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Ā• Candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials (MSN with an emphasis in nursing education).
Ā• College or University teaching experience.
Ā• Evidence of teaching excellence.
Ā• Prior relevant industry experience.
Ā• Online or hybrid teaching experience.
