Title: ADABAS Database Specialist/DB2

Location: Remote (Continental U.S.)

Salary: $104,000 - $125,000

Terms: 6 months to perm

Position Overview: We're seeking two experienced ADABAS/DB2 Database Engineers with COBOL expertise to join our remote team supporting mission-critical systems on IBM z/OS mainframes. You'll be responsible for installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining Software AG's ADABAS suite, ensuring 99.9% uptime and daily backups. This role is key to disaster recovery, performance tuning, and system optimization.

Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and upgrade ADABAS and DB2 database systems
• Maintain high availability and troubleshoot production outages
• Execute daily backups and monitor performance using SMF
• Lead disaster recovery planning and implementation
• Support migrations to DB2 or Oracle platforms
• Tune z/OS and CICS parameters for optimal performance
• Apply SAG software fixes and automate startup/shutdown procedures
• Collaborate with COBOL developers to ensure seamless integration with ADABAS and DB2
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 12+ years supporting SAG ADABAS systems; 5+ years on z/OS
• Hands-on experience with ADABAS Cluster Services in Parallel Sysplex
• Proficiency in COBOL programming within mainframe environments
• Familiarity with Natural, CICS, Tivoli, and SAG tools (e.g., PREDICT, AOS)
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
