JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Administrator, Activities Staff (Smoke Attendant) assists with for the personal enjoyment and benefit of the residents in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards to ensure that the spiritual, emotional, recreational and social needs of the residents are met on an individual basis. The Hospitality aide is responsible for supervising all residents during the designated smoke break times to ensure safety.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide Cigarettes, Vapes, Cigars, Tobacco & Electronic Cigarettes to residents living in the nursing home as per the facility smoking schedule. Smoking attendant will light all of the cigarettes & supervise the outdoor smoking activity.

2. Will escort residents to the outside patio smoking area off the dining room. Explain procedures & communicates with the resident regarding safe smoke techniques.

3. Will apply the smoking aprons & cigarette extenders to the residents who need these items.

4. Will monitor & observe all residents to ensure their safety.

5. The resident is allowed to smoke 2 cigarettes in 15 minutes. You must ensure the resident does not pocket & keep 1 of the cigarettes or any of the paraphernalia.

6. All items will be placed & kept in individual bags with the resident name in the locked smoking box. Box must be kept locked & secured in the medication room when not in use.

7. Will ensure the smoker list is updated in the notebook in the smoking box.

8. The job requires you to be around cigarette smoke all day, push & pull residents of all sizes to the smoking area.

9. Will be responsible to clean every ash tray after each smoking session & place all cigarette butts in the red cans. The red cans must be emptied after every session.

10. Responsible to help answer call light & does not perform any nursing duties.

11. Responsible to help pass ice, water & ensure ice chest is clean.

12. Assist with making resident beds.

13. Assist with the resident menus.

14. Help pass trays after the charge nurse has checked the tray. Do not assist feed any resident.

15. Help pick up meal trays.

16. Stock linen carts for nursing staff.

17. Help transport trash or linen barrels.

18. Assist Activity Director with Activities.

Requirements

· Must be able to relate positively to residents and families and work cooperatively with other employees.

· Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance with a varied work schedule, capable of working evenings and/or weekends and overtime hours, as necessary.

· Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without accommodation): Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to read and write, ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with residents, families, personnel, vendors and consultants, ability to remain calm under stress.

· Must meet all local health regulations, and

· successfully complete a post-offer health assessment.

· Must be capable of performing the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable Accommodation.
