We are seeking a WordPress Developer to lead development of a proof-of-concept migration from a legacy .NET system to WordPress Multi-Site using Gutenberg/React. You'll partner with architects to build plugins, Gutenberg blocks, and data migration strategies that could become the foundation for a larger re-platforming effort.
Required Skills & Experience
ā¢ WordPress / PHP (3ā5 years)
ā¢ Multi-Site architecture (network admin, multi-tenant setup)
ā¢ Custom plugin development with object-oriented PHP, hooks/filters, CPTs, taxonomies
ā¢ REST API (custom endpoints, authentication, serialization)
ā¢ Security best practices (input sanitization, nonce validation, capability checks, SQL protection)
ā¢ Performance optimization (caching, query tuning, lazy loading)
ā¢ Gutenberg / React / JavaScript (2ā4 years)
ā¢ Custom Gutenberg blocks (block.json, InspectorControls)
ā¢ React fundamentals (hooks, context, props, state)
ā¢ Modern JavaScript (ES6+, async/await, modules)
ā¢ WordPress data layer (useSelect, useDispatch, custom stores)
ā¢ Block patterns, variations, template parts
ā¢ Database & Integration (2ā4 years)
ā¢ MySQL / MariaDB ā indexing, optimization, schema design
ā¢ REST API integration (OAuth, JWT, error handling)

ā¢ Build custom WordPress plugins and business logic
ā¢ Develop Gutenberg blocks & React UI components
ā¢ Create REST API endpoints
ā¢ Write unit/integration tests
ā¢ Participate in code reviews
ā¢ Migration (~20%)
ā¢ Lead ETL from legacy system to WordPress
ā¢ Transform, validate, and test data
ā¢ Document migration process & lessons
ā¢ Integration (~10%)
ā¢ Build connectors to external systems
ā¢ Handle authentication/authorization flows
ā¢ Test integration endpoints
ā¢ Collaboration (~10%)
ā¢ Work with architects & senior devs on design decisions
ā¢ Coordinate with QA on test plans
ā¢ Engage in sprint planning, standups, status updates
Success Metrics
ā¢ Quality: High code coverage, zero critical vulnerabilities
